Country Star Colt Ford Hospitalized After Heart Attack
Country-rap artist Colt Ford is facing another health challenge after suffering a heart attack on Thursday night in Gilbert, Arizona.
The 54-year-old singer, known for co-writing and performing the smash hit “Dirt Road Anthem,” is currently in stable but critical condition in the intensive care unit at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa.
This news comes after Ford battled myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease, last year. He described the experience to Taste of Country as “tough,” particularly due to the vision issues it caused. However, Ford expressed a positive outlook, stating he had overcome the worst and wouldn’t give up.
Ford’s medical emergency occurred following a performance at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. A spokesperson confirmed his condition but offered no further updates at this time.
A multiplatinum singer-songwriter from Athens, Georgia, Ford boasts several chart-topping hits. “Dirt Road Anthem,” originally a collaboration with Brantley Gilbert, became a major success after Jason Aldean covered it for his 2010 album My Kinda Party. The song even earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Solo Performance. Ford’s own discography includes acclaimed albums like Ride Through the Country, Declaration of Independence, and Must Be the Country.
Ford’s website previously listed upcoming tour dates for the coming weeks, including a Friday night show in Primm, Nevada, and a Saturday set at the Wake the Lake Country Festival in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. These appearances are likely to be postponed or cancelled in light of his hospitalization.
Fans around the world are undoubtedly sending well wishes to Colt Ford as he recovers from this serious health scare.
