Halsey Shines on Red Carpet for the First Time Since Announcing Lupus Diagnosis

Halsey made a striking appearance at the Hollywood premiere of her new film, MaXXXine, held at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Monday, June 24. The 29-year-old pop star, who uses she/they pronouns, walked the red carpet for the first time since revealing her lupus diagnosis on social media on June 5.

At the premiere, Halsey posed with her MaXXXine co-star, Mia Goth. The thriller, the third installment in the X franchise, features Goth, 30, as Maxine and Halsey as Tabby. Set in 1980s Hollywood, the film follows adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx, who finally gets her big break. However, a mysterious killer begins stalking the starlets of Hollywood, threatening to expose her past. Halsey dressed to reflect her character, wearing a sparkling gold skirt set with a sleeveless crop top and hip cutouts, along with big curly hair and a dramatic cat eye.

MaXXXine was announced at the world premiere of its prequel, Pearl, at the Venice International Film Festival in September 2022. The film will see Goth’s character pursue fame in Hollywood. Pearl serves as a prequel to the first film in the series, X (2022), leading into the events of MaXXXine.

A first-look photo, shared by A24 on Twitter on May 1, 2023, showed Goth and Halsey walking down a Hollywood street at night in their ‘80s attire. Halsey captioned a promo image of herself on Instagram on June 11 with, “Meet tabby @maxxxinemovie – in theatres July 5th.” A week earlier, on June 4, Halsey hinted at her health issues while promoting “The End“, the first single from her upcoming fifth studio album. The next day, she detailed her health conditions in an Instagram post.

“I realize everyone is catching up with news I’ve held in for a very long time, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share,” Halsey wrote, thanking fans for their support. She revealed, “In 2022, I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE and then a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. Both of which are currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life.”

Halsey continued, “After a rocky start, I slowly got everything under control with the help of amazing doctors. After 2 years, I’m feeling better and I’m more grateful than ever to have music to turn to.” She concluded by reassuring supporters that she was ready to return to performing, “where I belong.”

Halsey’s health revelation has added another layer of admiration from fans and the public. Despite her challenges, her resilience and dedication to her craft remain evident, making her red carpet return a notable moment.

As she steps back into the spotlight with her role in MaXXXine, Halsey continues to show her strength and talent, both as a musician and an actress. Her fans eagerly anticipate her future projects and performances, celebrating her return to the public eye.
