Amanda Seyfried Receives The Critics’ Choice Award For “The Dropout” Dressed As A Golden Statue
At the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards, Amanda Seyfried is definitely channeling winning flair. The actress, who received her second nomination for the Critics’ Choice Awards, arrived at the gala wearing a metallic gold vintage Dior Haute Couture gown with a floor-length silhouette, a midriff cutout, and fringe accents.
The piece of twisted, fringed gold lamé chiffon used to create the pattern was part of the brand’s spring/summer 2020 collection. Stuart Weitzman heels in gold liquid metallic were paired with the ensemble. The Lancôme Ambassador added further color and sparkle with her daring red lip and eye-catching Cartier jewelry. Seyfried, 37, joked during her interview on the CW’s red carpet pre-show that she looked like the night’s prize in her vintage Dior gown. “If I don’t win a statue at least I look like one,” she said.
Fortunately, this didn’t happen. Seyfried was among the first celebrities to leave with a trophy later in the evening when she won best actress (limited series or movie created for television) for The Dropout, in which she plays Elizabeth Holmes.
“I’m overwhelmed being able to celebrate this show like this and I’m really proud of it,” Seyfried said in her acceptance speech. She discussed the preparation involved in portraying the fake Theranos founder on the carpet. “I’m not a method actor but I went to some places I needed to go. It was the experience of a lifetime for an actor. It was what I was looking for.”
And while her performance has earned much praise, she admitted that it “will be a while before I play a real person. I want to have a little less challenge, and a little more fun.” With the assistance of her stylist Elizabeth Stewart, Seyfried has amassed a standout collection of award season ensembles (whether worn on the red carpet or not).
Consider the 2022 Emmys, when she won her first-ever award while dressed in a floor-length Armani Privé mesh and rhinestone gown that gave off ethereal mermaid vibes. Fans and the award-winning actress who told E! that “Armani Privé – they know me like no one else” were not let down by the Italian brand.
She expressed gratitude to her family, which includes her husband Thomas Sadoski, 46, and their two children Thomas, 1, and Nina, 5. “And last but not least, [thank you to] my family,” Seyfried said after thanking her team. “Hi, bubs, you gotta go to bed now, but thanks!” She continued: “Thank you to my family, my mom, my husband, my dad and my kids, and my dog, Finn,” she added. “Thanks so much.”
