Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey’s Emotional Rhode Island Wedding: ‘Tears of Joy Filled the Room’
Olivia Culpo and Christian McCaffrey‘s wedding was a heartfelt celebration filled with love and continuous dancing. The model, 32, and the NFL star, 28, exchanged vows on Saturday, June 29, in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. According to a source, the event was deeply emotional for everyone in attendance.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when McCaffrey said his vows” to Culpo, the source shared.
The couple implemented a no-phones policy at their wedding, which was well-received by the guests. “It was so nice to be present and soak in the entire weekend and spend quality time with everyone,” the source added.
Culpo wore a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown for her walk down the aisle. The source described her as “poised and elegant as ever.” The overall weekend reflected her classic, traditional, and elegant style. The insider remarked, “It was just so cool to see two such busy people come together and it’s a testament to who they surround themselves with.”
The reception was a lively celebration, with the dance floor remaining active all night. “The dance floor didn’t stop all night!” the source noted.
In an interview, Culpo revealed that she and McCaffrey chose to hold their ceremony in a 150-year-old chapel in Watch Hill because the San Francisco 49ers quarterback always wanted to get married in a church. “That was our number one priority,” she said.
Culpo described marriage as a significant commitment, emphasizing its importance as the beginning of a lifelong union. She shared a memorable moment from the ceremony, where McCaffrey, nervous and eager, prematurely blurted out “I do!” within the first 30 seconds. The priest had to remind him to wait, which led to a light-hearted moment of laughter among family and friends. Culpo noted, “As a bride, there’s no better feeling than your husband not being able to wait a second longer to marry you.”
For her big day, Culpo‘s bridal look was modest and elegant. Her gown featured a ball gown silhouette with a drop waist, long sleeves, and a crew neckline. She paired it with a 16-foot lace veil and 15-carat De Beers diamond earrings. She told Vogue, “I didn’t want it to exude sex in any way, shape, or form. I wanted it to feel effortless and as if it’s complimenting me, not overpowering me.”
Culpo emphasized that she never felt more beautiful than when she was in her ceremony dress and under her veil, aiming for simplicity and harmony in her bridal look. She also chose her attire with McCaffrey in mind, reflecting on his preferences for timeless, covered, and elegant styles. “When I think about Christian and what he loves and the moments that he thinks that I’m most beautiful, it’s absolutely in something like this: timeless, covered and elegant,” she said.
Following their ceremony, the couple celebrated with their loved ones at a reception at the historic Ocean House resort. For the occasion, Culpo changed into another custom Dolce & Gabbana dress — an off-shoulder high-waist chiffon design with a handmade silk flower on the neckline. Later in the night, she made one more wardrobe change into a silk bodysuit with a mini cage skirt, both decorated with organza flowers.
Reflecting on their wedding weekend, Culpo told Vogue that it marked the beginning of their life together as a family. “Both Christian and I felt our wedding weekend starts our life together as a family,” she said. “I wanted everything to feel intimate but also include the significance of the moment.”
