Shakira Goes to Mexico to Start Her Upcoming World Tour
It’s been nearly seven years since Shakira last embarked on a world tour, but the Colombian icon is ready to set the stage ablaze once again. On Tuesday, January 21, the global superstar touched down in Mexico City to kick off rehearsals for her highly anticipated Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran stadium tour, set to begin on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Local media captured Shakira’s arrival at Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), just outside the Mexican capital. Stepping off a private jet, the singer—flanked by her security detail and members of the National Guard—took a moment to greet the throng of devoted fans waiting to catch a glimpse of their idol. With posters, memorabilia, and hopes of a coveted autograph in hand, the crowd erupted as the pop sensation made her way through the terminal.
“I am so happy to be here in Mexico, a country that has supported me, understood me, and loved me,” Shakira told reporters. “I love you with all my heart.”
The stop in Mexico City marks a pivotal point in Shakira’s comeback journey. During a recent appearance on Brazil’s Domingão com Huck, the singer revealed she specifically chose Mexico to put the final touches on the tour. The decision feels fitting—her deep-rooted connection to the country dates back decades, and this time around, she’s making history.
According to promoter Ocesa, Shakira will become the first artist to perform seven consecutive nights at the Estadio GNP Seguros (formerly Foro Sol), drawing an estimated 455,000 fans across shows scheduled for March 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, and 30. Tickets for all dates sold out within hours—further proof of the unwavering bond between the artist and her Mexican fanbase.
Before the record-breaking run in Mexico City, the Barranquilla native will hit Monterrey on March 12 and 13 at BBVA Stadium, followed by two nights in Guadalajara’s Akron Stadium on March 16 and 17.

Shakira’s Return After Long Stop
For Shakira, the tour is more than just a return to the spotlight—it’s a testament to resilience. Her latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, has been hailed as an empowering anthem for women, emerging from a period of personal turmoil and creative rebirth.
“It’s been a very healing process—not just for me, but for so many women who have followed my journey from the very beginning,” she said.
Though her schedule is packed, the singer still has one craving on her mind: tacos. When asked about her favorite part of Mexican cuisine, Shakira’s eyes lit up. “I can’t wait to have some tacos or flautas,” she admitted with a smile.
A source close to the artist’s team confirmed Shakira will remain in Mexico City for several days to rehearse, though the exact location remains under wraps. As anticipation builds, one thing is clear—the queen of Latin pop is ready to reclaim her throne.
